Tax-Exempt Purchase Policy

At Onyx Wearhouse, we are proud to provide custom apparel for schools, government agencies, and qualifying nonprofit organizations. We understand that many of these institutions hold a tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) or state law.
1. Eligibility for Tax-Exempt Purchases
Customers may qualify for a sales tax exemption if they are:

A public or private school

A governmental agency

A nonprofit organization holding IRS 501(c)(3) status

Any other entity legally recognized as tax-exempt under Texas law
Note: The exemption applies only to purchases made directly by the qualifying organization. Personal purchases by individuals affiliated with tax-exempt entities do not qualify.
2. Required Documentation
To process a tax-exempt order, customers must submit a valid Texas Sales and Use Tax Exemption Certificate or other relevant documentation before placing an order. Documentation must:

Clearly identify the exempt organization

Include the organization’s name, address, and tax-exempt number

Be signed by an authorized representative

Be current and valid at the time of the order
3. How to Place a Tax-Exempt Order
At this time, tax-exempt orders cannot be placed directly through our online store. If your school or organization qualifies for tax exemption:

A copy of your tax-exempt certificate

A description of the intended order (product, quantity, customization details)
Once we review and approve your documentation, we will assist you with completing your order without sales tax applied.
4. Orders Placed Without Prior Approval
Orders placed without submitting proper tax-exempt documentation will include sales tax and cannot be retroactively adjusted. Please ensure your exemption is verified before placing your order to avoid delays or tax charges.
